About the Lyons Design Group
Adam N. Lyons, Architect, LEED AP, AIA, ALA, NCARB Certified
Adam heads the primary design functions, project management and production tasks of the practice.
Adam has been in professional practice since 2001, incorporating The Lyons Design Group. Prior to that he worked in various high-end Residential architectural environments and Corporate atmospheres (Abbott, Baxter). Adam has earned a credential on the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB), is an active member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and The Association of Licensed Architects (ALA). Adam currently holds his active Architect License in 14 states. His credentials also include a Master of Architecture Degree from the University of Illinois, and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies.
During the execution of his practice – Adam differentiates himself from many other architects by his 1st-hand working field experience. He has been both a General Contractor for several projects, and a Carpentry Framer on a construction crew. This involvement and years of hands-on experience “in the field” has equipped him with a unique knowledge and experience. In the design process, he applies this skill set to his designs which results in a closer working relationship with tradesmen; a “problem-solving” technical ability, outside the box practitioner; and a guarantee to his clients that what is conceived in the design and developed, will be able to be implemented in reality, “brought to life.”
Adam brings the following particular expertise: • Proven ability in managing relationships: Client, Architect, Builder / Subcontractors • An orderly, systematic Project Delivery process, from inception through project completion • Demonstrated success and experience in project design and relationship management • Acknowledged expertise and celebrated design talent.
Adam also includes in “basic services” all coordination with his Working Group (The Team), the Owner, subcontractors participating, and building/code officials. A close working relationship with everyone involved ensures the results are successful. His mantra on ‘Design’ is that the structure should evoke feelings within the user. He is a strong believer that if the design solutions respond and react to the users’ needs, the structures harness themselves to their context and/or site, and that if a building logically belongs in its environment, then the people that use that Architecture will feel they also belong there.
